~ Domaine Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Portfolio ~

In 1998, the idea was raised about forming a partnership between between Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and the Catena family. Initial enthusiasm was rapidly transformed into a project to produce a single wine combining French and Argentinean cultures, and two grape varieties, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, which are the specialities of the two estates.

The Catena family has produced wines for three generations, and draws on its familiarity with the soil and the high altitude Mendoza region, and also with its passion for the Malbec grapes in order to select the finest vineyards. DBR contributed its centuries-old skill with the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, as well as its know-how in blending fine wines. The combination has made a rich and refined wine; a harmonious balance between the Argentinean and Bordeaux styles.

Wonderful deep purple-red colour. Intense aromas of red and black fruit (cherries and blackcurrants) on the nose, with notes of cedar, vanilla and tobacco, slightly minty and well integrated. Full on the palate with good, fairly powerful tannic structure, and good, delicate length. A wine with great ageing potential.

Deep purple color. Fruit driven wine with appealing red & black cherries flavors, black plums, hint of mint & cedar. On the palate, it has a nice tannic texture that is full & round. Notes of vanilla & tobacco coming from French oak. A blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.
