CHATEAU DE CHAMIREY
FRANCE, Burgundy

www.chamirey.com

Situated in Mercurey, the vineyards of the Château de Chamirey extend over 37 hectares (27 reds, 10 whites, 15 of which are Premier Crus) reflecting the diverse soils and micro climates found within the Mercury appellation. The whites, fresh & lively and well balanced. Chateau de Chamirey red is true indulgence. It has a silky texture, and is very fruity typically showing the flavor of cherries.

In an article about Burgundy wines, Chris Kissack from thewinedoctor.com had listed Chateau de Chamirey as one of his top wines in the region of Cote Chalonnaise (Mercury).

Mercury Blanc 2003 (RV)

Lovely notes of green fruit, marzipan and apricot aromas but here the flavors are much racier and finer with an attractively velvety texture and outstanding finish punch. A charming effort and worth a look if your taste runs to moderately oaked by stylish whites.

Mercury Rouge 2006 (RV)

Medium to dark ruby-colored, the plummy black cherry-scented Mercurey (red) is medium-bodied, plush, and jam-packed with gorgeous dark fruits. Its finish reveals some of the firm structure wines from Mercurey.

Rulles 1er Cru Rouge 2005 (RV)

This is slightly finer in all respects with more elegance and more sophisticated tannins but like the '06, the toast isn't subtle yet there is sufficient concentration that it should eventually be able to absorb what is at present ample wood. The tannins are ripe and the focus and depth plus this should age well.
