Regarded by many as the Rhone's top winemaker. In the tiny village of Ampuis, below the famous slope of Cote Rotie, Marcel Guigal produces not only the world famous single vineyard wines but also an excellent range of very high quality red, white and rose wines representing the different styles of the Northern and Southern Rhone. Guigal's international renown comes from his firm belief in low yields, old vines and allowing the grapes and terroir their own freedom of expression with minimal intervention from the wine maker.

Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2005 (RV) |
A blend of 50% Syrah and 50% Grenache, the 2005 Cotes du Rhone is a real head turner. Full-bodied, with a deep ruby/purple color and sweet notes of berry fruit, a hint of road tar, and some pepper, the wine is dense, chewy, ripe, and a surprisingly big mouthful of juicy, velvety-textured wine to drink over the next 3-4 years.

| Cote Rotie Brune et Blonde 2004 |
The 2004 Cote Rotie Brune et Blonde possesses classic notes of tapenade, bacon fat, sweet cherries, cassis, and hints of chocolate-infused raspberries. Spicy, medium-bodied, and elegant with a short finish, its high acid levels and superficial depth are reminiscent of a so-so Burgundy. Drink it over the next decade.
| Cote Rotie Chateau Ampuis 2004/05 |
The wine has plenty of black currant notes with hints of coffee, tobacco smoke, tapenade, and spice box. Soft, fresh, and elegant in a medium-bodied, more Burgundy style than either the 2003 or 2005, this wine should drink nicely for 10-12 years.
