Schlossgut Diel belongs in the class of the elite. The wines will wow you. Armin, the owner, occupies an unprecedented position in the wine world. He is proprietor of his estate on the Nahe, and he is perhaps the most influential wine writer in Germany. Imagine if Robert Parker owned one of the 1st-Growth Bordeaux: just like that. This man is such an expert, imagine how good his own wines must be." The rieslings hail most importantly from a trio of contiguous Grand Crus: Goldloch on thin loam and gravel over a rocky subsoil, Burgberg on quartzite, and Pittermännchen on Hunsrück slate. Elite blue-chip estate on the lower Nahe, producing scintillating terroir-driven rieslings ranging from tingly slatey to baroque. Attentive viticulture and intelligent craftsmanship in the cellar make this one of Germany's leading estates.

Dorsheim Riesling 2007 (RV) |
|
Arresting fragrance. Lychee, melon, ripe apple fruit, limoncella and minerals in the fruity nose. The palate is like endless tiny jabs of flavor; perfectly balanced with a semolina sweetness in every way - fragrance, texture, flavor, structure - an outstanding & amazing "starter" wine.

| Cuvee Victor 2007 |
|
A flagship dry white from Diel. A prestigious Cuvee of Pinot Gris & Pinot Blanc, barrel fermented & aged, named after their son, VICTOR Diel.
|
| Goldloch Grosses Gewachs 2007 (RV) |
It is is a baroque cathedral of Riesling; abundant aromas of apricot; the palate is all kinds of rich and pitted fruits, but the balance & elegance is stricking; the powdery minerality melts into the finish.
|
| Goldloch Riesling Kabinett 2007 (RV) |
Scents of minerals lightly dusted with talcum powder can be detected in the nose. Light to medium-bodied and soft, this friendly wine offers expressive flavors of apples, pears, and smoky minerals in its velvety- textured personality.
|
| Goldloch Riesling Spatlese 2007 (RV) |
This is refined and harmonious. The peach, vanilla, lemon custard and mineral notes mingle effortlessly with the creamy texture. It's all supported by a vibrant structure. The intensity builds to a long, long finish.

| Goldloch Auslese 2005 (RV) |
Pale golden yellow.Rich aromas of apricot, quince and sweet spice mingle above a hint of botrytis. Complex, unctuous tropical fruits and a salty minerality marry well on the palate. Nicely balanced and very long on the finish.

| Diel Riesling Eiswein 2004 |
Diel's 2004 Riesling Eiswein brings together pickings from several gentle, deep-soiled Dorsheim sites that are year by year the principle source of this estate's frozen Riesling harvests. At once almost overwhelmingly citric and sweet, enormously dense and intense.
