Super Tuscan For The Holidays

Need some blockbuster brands for the festive season? Well, we have three sexy marques in mind and it's not Ferrari, Lamborgini or Maserati. If you're thinking of Italian wines, then you might rightly be thinking of Super Tuscans, the symbol of rebellious winemakers in Tuscany and also some of the most sought-after wines in the world.

Tenuta San Guido, Marchesi Antonori and Tenuta dell'Ornellaia are some of the most famous producers for Super Tuscans, making Sassicaia, Tignanello and Ornellaia respectively. In fact, it was the launch of Sassicaia in 1968 that birthed the phenomena of Super Tuscans - premium, high quality wines that blended Bordeaux/French varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, etc) with or without local Italian grapes, disqualifying them from being classified as DOC or DOCG wines under wine laws. Fans began calling these successful wines Super Tuscan to distinguish these labels from regular table wine. Since 1992, the Toscana IGT label was created to recognise these increasingly famous wines.

We've sourced some hard-to-get back vintages of the following Super Tuscans, which are ready to drink or gift this year-end. Quantities are limited so don't hesitate to reserve your bottles today directly with the sales team - these labels are so scarce, we’re not listing them on our e-store!
