Let's celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dominus Estate* with NEW vintage arrivals - in rare imperial formats too!
You may know Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix as the largest wine merchant on the Bordeaux Right Bank. After all, family run since 1937, JP Moueix is also the owner and producer of several prestigious crus, including Château La Fleur-Pétrus, Château Trotanoy, and Château Hosanna in Pomerol; and Château Bélair-Monange Premier Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Émilion.
However, they are also custodians of some of the most historic vineyards in California, a distinction that took place when Christian Moueix established Dominus Estate in 1983 in Yountville, California. The son of Jean-Pierre, Christian fell in love with Napa Valley when studying at the University of California at Davis in the 1960s. Situated on the famed Napanook vineyard, it was, in the 1940’s and 1950’s, the source of fruit for some of the finest Napa Valley wines. In fact, the vineyard’s history can be traced back to Napa Valley’s beginnings, when in 1838 George Yount, for whom the town of Yountville was named, first planted grapevines there. Today, this historic vineyard produces three wines: Dominus, its flagship, Napanook, and Othello.
In 2008, the Ulysses vineyard was acquired in 2008 by Christian Moueix. Since the acquisition, Christian and his team have pursued an in-depth understanding of the soil and microclimate and have undertaken a lengthy and meticulous vineyard restoration. Dry farming, the foundation of Ulysses’ sustainable farming practices, enhances root depth and resistance to drought, resulting in a wine that is a pure expression of terroir.
We are pleased to welcome new vintage arrivals from Napanook, Ulysses and Dominus (on allocation) directly from California to share with you!
Made solely from grapes grown at the historic Napanook Vineyard in Yountville, Napanook is blended from vineyard blocks carefully selected for their lively fruit, soft tannins and early maturing chateristics. The wine is created to be consumed young and enjoyed with food, but will also age well for more than a decade. In 2012, the Napanook label was reimagined in black and white.

Ulysses is a distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Situated along Napa Valley’s Oakville bench and extending over an alluvial fan at the foot of the Mayacamas Range, the site was once part of the famed Charles Hopper ranch and it is exceptional for winegrowing. The soil is composed of deep, gravelly, clay loam and is particularly well-suited to growing Cabernet Sauvignon.

Christian Moueix chose the name ‘Dominus’ (‘lord of the estate’ in Latin) to underscore his longstanding commitment to the land. Known for its complexity and balance, Dominus demonstrates the potential of a wine produced on exceptional terroir. Structured, seamless and perfectly integrated, Dominus is an elegant wine that improves with age.
