The Allure
Every wine lover has their own preference. But more often than not, where we bend together is our common belief that life is too short to waste precious time drinking average wines. That's why inertly we're always seeking out to chase after the next great wine.If ever there were to be a global Hall of Fame for legendary wines around the world, we're betting top dollars that Hundred Acre would definitely be a part of that list.
The Beginning
Originally an investment banker in Canada, Jayson Woodbridge, who has created some of the best wines coming out of Napa, had no prior experience in wine making or any form of vineyard management. Armed with a belief in his own ability to make great wines , a deep understanding in the importance of terroir, Jayson sold just about everything and started Hundred Acre.
The Unique Features
Misting system - Vineyards are equipped with a special misting system. The very same method that is used in Dutch Tulip farms. Mist prolongs the growing season thus allowing the grapes to ripen optimally.
Strictly one grape bunch per vine - An intensive pruning regime, an intentional decision to only allow one grape bunch per vine. Ensuring top concentration and quality yield. The harvest takes at least 5 rounds of picking. All of the grapes are selected and sorted by hand.
NASA Space Ship Filter System - The cellar is equipped with a really unique air filter system. This is a filter that was designed for NASA and was also used on the International Space Station. Not only that , the cellar also has UV light rods installed to kill off any volatile organic compounds / DNA of any virus, mould, fungus or spores.
24 Carat Gold Ring - Each Hundred Acre Bottle has a 24-carat gold ring fired into the glass bottle rim. This represents an eternal vow - the promise of never to compromise. Each Hundred Acre Bottle has a 24-carat gold ring fired into the glass bottle rim. The Vineyards
Morgan's Way (formerly known as Kayli Morgan) - Located between St Helena and Calistoga where the sandy soils and clay held similar nature to that of those in Petrus and Ausone in Bordeaux.
Ark Vineyard - Located below Glass Mountain in St Helena. Cabernet Sauvignon here are planted on a steep slope forming a 180-degree arc in the sun. The ground resembled a kuah lapis of red soil, black obsidian rock and volcanic pebbles.
Few and Far Between Vineyard - Situated in a canyon where it shares a fence line with Eisele Vineyard. Because of its location, the vines get sufficient sun during the day but also the coastal breeze from the Chalk Hill gap. A foundation of a mixture of rocky alluvial and clay loam soils.
Wraith - A master blend of all 3 vineyards to encapsulate the essence of the vintage in a bottle.
Dark Ark - A selection from the most intense and concentrated lots of the Ark Vineyard.
Deep Time - Specially chosen barrels that undergo extended aging.
Fortification - A wine that is fortified with Brandy distilled from a separate vineyard.
