A structured, full-bodied wine with the elegant tannins characteristic of careful barrel ageing. A great wine which deserves patient bottle ageing.

Winemaker notes

Eye : Deep ruby red with violet tinges.
Nose : Spices, red berries and delicate oak aromas.
Palate : A powerful and tannic wine. Aromas of blackcurrant buds and vanilla. Licorice and spicy finish.
Overall : A racy and seductive wine. A perfect wine for putting down.

Wine Advocate 90-92: Guigal's full-bodied 2019 Hermitage delivers classic notes of roasted meat, raspberries and cherries. Slightly open-knit and even a touch coarse in texture, it looks to be a relatively quick-maturing example of this storied appellation.

Wine Advocate 91-93: Looking like another solid vintage for this wine, Guigal's 2020 Hermitage boasts meaty, herb-laced aromas, plus plenty of berry fruit. Full-bodied, rich and velvety, it's concentrated and long on the finish.

James Suckling 93: Complex nose of pomegranates, summer flowers and sweet black berries. A very rich wine with a roasted character and fruit that's almost overripe. However, the generous and healthy tannins keep this on track right through the long finish. Matured in 50% new oak and 50% used small barrels for two years. Drink or hold.
