This wine is not for the faint of heart. It is for those with a will of steel and determination to match... a wine for people that admire subtle elegance and not-so-subtle power. “Walk softly but carry a big stick".

2018

Wine Advocate 94: The single-vineyard 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon The Warrior displays hints of cooling menthol, boisterous cherries, earthy loam and classic cigar-box notes. It's medium to full-bodied, slightly cool, silky and fine, with a long, elegant finish.

2019

Wine Advocate 95: Across the board, the 2019s at this address are riper and plusher than the 2018s, and Fortunate Son's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon The Warrior is no exception. Black cherries and red cherries join cedar and vanilla shadings on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is expansive and plush, turning velvety on the long finish.

James Suckling 97: Aromas of dark berries, chocolate, terra-cotta and bark. Full and layered with fine velvety tannins that give a juicy and intense finish. Delicious all around. Drink or hold.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown 98: The 2019 The Warrior is deep garnet-purple in color. Creme de cassis, plum preserves, and chocolate-covered cherries give way to suggestions of sandalwood, camphor, and tar with a waft of fallen leaves. The full-bodied palate is concentrated and intense, with loads of earthy layers and a firm, grainy backbone, finishing long and layered.

Decanter 97: Warrior is an iron fist of a Cabernet that is profoundly structured with exotic layers of fruit, spices, florals, and a wealth of ironstone minerals. Swelling with a full-bodied richness of creamy textured blackberry and black cherry fruit, plus liquorice with hints of spearmint laced with tobacco. Pixelated tannins build the stature and presence of the wine on the palate, and the finish is long with wet slate. It is a complete and harmonious wine of freshness, power, and grace.

2022

James Suckling 99: Black currants and black berries, with a transparency that lets beautiful pine needles and sage shine through. Full-bodied with a very fine velvet texture. Extremely long and delicious. Intense finish. Amazing length The owner is Hundred Acre, and it’s coming through clearly. Drink or hold.
