Extremely low yields and a strictest grapes selection. Produced in small quantities. Full body, balance and concentration. Ripe fruit and spicy. Very long life.

2016

Wine Advocate 90: With fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, the 2016 Barbera d'Alba Fides offers a noticeable and heightened level of precision, focus and strength. The wine bursts open with dark and luscious fruit that makes a big impact on the senses. Blackberry, summer ripe cherry and black plum all rise to the top of the bouquet. In the mouth, the wine shows thick density and bright acidity. Only 6,000 bottles were made of this oak-aged Barbera.

James Suckling 93: Very floral and bright with tar and slate undertones. Some stones, too. Full-bodied, tight and focused with beautiful depth and complexity. Very long and focused.

Vinous 92: The 2016 Barbera d’Alba Fides is fabulous. Super-ripe dark cherry, pomegranate, rose petal and wild flowers are beautifully delineated in this plush, vibrant Barbera. Medium in body and impeccable in its balance, the Fides is a winner from Pio Cesare.

2020

Wine Advocate 91: The 2020 Barbera d'Alba Superiore Vigna Mosconi Fides delivers big ripeness and fruit weight with inky dark intensity, mature blackberry and syrupy blackberry or cherry essence. This hot vintage comes close to going overboard in terms of ripeness, but it is ultimately reined in by the grape’s fresh acidity.

James Suckling 94: A linear and fresh barbera with dark fruit, bark, walnuts and orange peel. It’s medium-bodied with well-integrated tannins. Focused and fine. Sophisticated. Tangy finish. Very long.
