The most versatile Riesling, a great pairing for various cuisine styles, from Indian curry to French foie gras. Full bodied, bright texture, long finish. Drink with your favourite cheese and meat too.
Winemaker notes
Timeless, elegant Rheingau Spätlese with lush fruit notes, gracefully balancing its natural sweetness with a bright, high-spirited acidity. Well-chilled, this wine is drinking wonderfully in its youth, and will continue to mature over the next 30+ years.
2023
Wine Advocate 89: The 2023 Rheingau Riesling Spätlese is clear and reductive on the savory and refreshing lemon-scented nose. Full-bodied, lush and with a certain phenolic grip, this is a bright and fleshy, savory and gastronomic estate Spätlese that was bottled with 48 grams per liter of residual sugar and total acidity of 10 grams per liter. It's a more textured and lush rather than precise and savory Spätlese, and it charms with a saline and savory finish. 8.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024.
James Suckling 94: How can you resist this deep pool of white peach and mangosteen fruit? The wine is frankly off-dry, but the freshness and energy are so gigantic that they overshadow the natural grape sweetness. The very long, elegant finish is an invitation to guess the fruit. There is no simple answer to that question. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
