White gold hue with pale green glimmers. Elegant, fruity nose. The attack is direct and clean with mineral and citrus notes. The palate is well-balanced with the same aromatic profile as the nose. Long, lingering finish.

Burghound 90-92: This is noticeably riper with its smoky aromas of pear liqueur, iodine and suggestion of the phenolic (olive oil nuances). There is both excellent volume and mid-palate density to the generously proportioned medium weight flavors that display solid power on the clean and dry finale.

Decanter 92: Although a 'solar' area, the soils here are shallower than much of Fourchaume. More concentration and weight evident, with notable smoky notes. Will develop very well but needs time. Lots of acidity. Big structure, small production.

Burghound 91-93♥: Notably ripe but still agreeably fresh aromas include those of poached pear, iodine and a whiff of shrimp shell. Once again there is an attractive texture to the vibrant and delicious medium weight flavors that are nicely rich while managing to retain good delineation on the moderately austere, balanced and sneaky long finale. This is sufficiently pliant to drink well young but this wine also has an established track record for aging gracefully.

Decanter 93: This premier cru from the right bank of the Serein strikes an elegant balance between silky finesse and a richer, more opulent style. There is a lovely nectarine- and hazelnut-scented fruit character, and a supple texture that sits on the palate without heaviness, carrying through to a lingering finish. The grapes are from the Vaupulans lieu-dit, part of the broader Fourchaume umbrella. The site faces south/southwest, nearly the same as the nearby grands crus. To counteract the tendency to richness, the grapes are fermented entirely in stainless steel.
