Overall : Very rich wine full of harmony and balance.
2019
Wine Advocate 89-91: Guigal's 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape again appears to play second fiddle to the house's Gigondas. Attractive floral. spice and cherry notes appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate doesn't seem that rich or concentrated, and the finish is a bit chunky at this youthful stage.
James Suckling 94: Spicy and meaty with a very solid tannic base, this a serious Chateauneuf that has plenty of black fruit appeal, but also the muscular structure for long aging. Firm and focused finish with lots of energy and drive for this vintage. Drink or hold.
2020
Wine Advocate 91-93: The rich, velvety 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape features scents of garrigue and black cherries. It's full-bodied, rich and velvety in texture, with a long finish. It looks to be an excellent vintage for this cuvée.
James Suckling 93: A beautifully rounded Chateauneuf with plenty of black and red berry aromas wrapped around a core of fine tannins. Delicate spices and a touch of candied citrus peel expand as the wine aerates. Good length in the silky finish. With this balance and freshness, the wine should age very well. Drink or hold.
Vinous 91-93: Dried herbs, ripe strawberry and licorice introduce the 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Almost equally as forward and flamboyant as the delicious 2019, the 2020 is a supple and concentrated red that's built for the long haul. It offers good length on the savory conclusion.
