2020
Wine Advocate 89-91: Guigal's 2020 Saint-Joseph is full-bodied, but it lacks the richness or density of the 2019 version. It's still awfully attractive, with hints of crushed stone and violets lending nuance to the blackberry fruit.
Vinous 90: The medium-bodied 2020 Saint-Joseph unwinds with spice-box, cedar, black cherry and black plum aromatics. Offering solid flavor concentration neatly framed by ripe tannins, it concludes with drive on the juicy finish. Very elegant.
2021
Wine Advocate 90: Gently peppery and charmingly broody, the 2021 Saint-Joseph opens with aromas of spices, dark cherries and gentian. Medium- to full-bodied, balanced and delicate, it’s sappy and round, with bright acids that carry it to a long, gently ethereal finish.
James Suckling 90: This elegant and fresh, medium-bodied St.-Joseph reflects the cooler vintage. Plenty of redcurrant, blood-orange and fresh-plum aromas, plus a touch of pepper. Gentle, moderately dry tannins are married to mineral acidity at the lively finish. Drink now.
