This Grand Cru of the Côte de Nuits has been recognized for the high quality of its soil and its wines. The plot is above that of the famous Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot. "Echezeaux" is derived from a Latin word meaning "buildings" and it indicates the presence of Gallo Roman ruins.
Beautiful dark ruby color and clear. The nose, complex and very pleasant, reveals notes of black fruits and empyreumatic, then with aeration, the scents of cooked fruit. The wine has a nice freshness and found notes of licorice and spicy. The silky tannins give a lingering aroma. This Grand Cru has a full and balanced structure which suggests a good aging potential.
