Winemaker notes

The wines of Château La Tour Figeac are already and inspiring when drunk young due to their roundness and finesse, yet the incredible power of the structure and body suggests huge ageing potential. The complex bouquet is characterised by intense notes of black cherries and plums as well as red and black berries, and is complemented by underlying hints of violets. Notes of vanilla, coffee and spices – due to the ageing in new oak barrels – are already well integrated in the young wine in time these will add a light sweet spiciness.

2021

Wine Advocate 90: The 2021 La Tour Figeac has turned out nicely, exhibiting minty aromas of cherries, berries and peonies, followed by a medium-bodied, pure and polished palate that will show well young.

James Suckling 92: A perfumed and citrusy nose with white pepper, grilled oranges and grapefruit and a touch of savory, dried herbs and spices. Juicy and medium-bodied on the palate with round, silky tannins and a succulent, berry-oriented finish. Drink now.

Vinous 91: The 2021 La Tour Figeac has a composed nose with brambly red fruit, just a touch of undergrowth and herbaceousness developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, fresh and quite sapid. Nicely structured though not complex, it has the delineation, freshness and personality to draw you back for more. Very well done.

Wine Enthusiast 94: A ripe wine that is beautifully balanced. Rich tannins and concentration always within elegant limits. Black-currant flavors are forward. Drink this rich wine from 2028. Organic.
