From the top portion of La Justice (the best section). La Justice vineyard is located just behind the estate in the large alluvial fan from the Combe de Lavaut. Named after its climat that Alexandrine bought in 2010 - produced its first vintage as recently as 2011. 50+ year old vines. De-stemmed, indigenous yeast. Aged in barrel (40% New French Oak).

Burghound 90♥: An interesting and equally fresh and ripe nose combines notes of black fruit coulis, kirsch, violet and a floral whiff. The delicious, vibrant and more refined medium weight flavors possess an attractive texture thanks to the abundance of sappy dry extract that buffers the moderately firm tannins on the slightly more complex and sneaky long finale. This too offers very fine quality for its level.

Burghound 89♥: A mildly toasty nose reveals slightly more deeply pitched aromas of dark currant, newly turned earth and a suggestion of the sauvage. The equally delicious and vibrant medium weight flavors aren't quite as concentrated though they are noticeably finer thanks to the fine-grained tannins shaping the inviting and refreshing finale that also delivers sneaky good length.

Burghound 89♥: A discreet application of wood frames aromas that are similar to the old vines cuvée except with the addition of a hint of poached plum. The more refined and sleeker, though less concentrated, flavors are at once supple but punchy while exhibiting good length on the balanced finale that is shaped by quite fine-grained tannins.

Burghound 89♥: A judicious application of wood sets off more elegant aromas that derive more from the red side of the fruit spectrum. The delicious, round and suave flavors possess a finer texture, indeed it's seductive but with solid punch on the refreshing bitter pit fruit-inflected finale. I like the balance and note that this could easily be enjoyed young.
James Suckling 91: At once delicately sweet and quite earthy, this enticing Gevrey-Chambertain is easy to enjoy. A medium-bodied palate with plenty of cherry and ripe strawberry fruit on a base of supple tannins. So much going for it, yet it’s a little simple in the moderately dry finish. Drink or hold.
Vinous 89-91: The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice has a similar fruit profile to the Vieilles Vignes, perhaps with a little more intensity. The palate is quite creamy-textured on the opening, with a touch of dark chocolate that tinctures the red fruit. The finish is lightly spiced, missing some structure but maintaining balance. Drink this over the next seven or eight years.
