From a prized 1.5-hectare vineyard plot in Meursault, planted gradually between 1951 and 1992, giving the vines a significant old vine component. This vineyard is situated on an eastern-facing slope characterized by a complex mix of clay and limestone soils, with clay dominating the upper parts and more alluvial soils lower down, contributing to the wine's distinct mineral-driven and layered character.
2023
Vinous 88-90: The 2023 Meursault Les Grands Charrons has a composed bouquet with citrus fruit, lime and light wilted white flower scents that unfold gently in the glass. The palate is well balanced with orange pith and hints of white pepper, quite linear and Puligny-like in style. Perhaps it stops just short of the finish line on the close, but still, it will give several years' drinking pleasure.
Decanter 94: This delicious village-level Meursault shows the potential at every level, with its elegant aromas of ripe pear, hazelnut and acacia flowers. The texture is silky and elegant, with nothing heavy or overly rich. The 2023 is perhaps slightly less honeyed than last year. The grapes are from a holding of more than 2ha; two-thirds of the vines are at the top of the slope by Tessons, and one-third are planted in the richer soils at the base.
