Brunello Vigna Pinino is obtained solely from the selection of the homonymous vineyard, nestled in the historical heart of the property. The wine has a deep, intense ruby red colour. Elegant and refined both in the nose and in the mouth, it features notes of red fruits such as cherries, black cherries, redcurrants and raspberries, that are enhanced and not drown out by the wood.
Brunello Vigna Pinino is a cru made exclusively from selected grapes from the vineyard of the same name, located in the historic heart of the winery. The wine is a deep and intense ruby red. Both the aroma and flavor are elegant and refined, with notes of red fruit, cherry, black cherry, currant, and raspberry. The oak does not mask, but rather enhances the fruit. On the palate, it is sophisticated, with velvety tannins and excellent verticality.
Wine Advocate 94: A Riserva was not made in this vintage, but Pinino did produce its restyled 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Pinino. The 2020 growing season will be remembered for the exceptional attention paid to farming and the vineyard management, as everyone was stuck at home during the COVID-19 lockdowns. This wine draws its fruit from the amphitheater of vines directly in front of the winery. It shows plump concentration and a medium-dark appearance. That characteristic Sangiovese acidity is front and center, and the wine shows good complexity thanks to deep roots in rocky galestro soils. The tannins are elegant and soft.
James Suckling 94: Extremely complex aromas of cedar, sandalwood, black cherries, mushrooms and very fresh roses. Medium-bodied with linear and refined tannins, showing cherry, orange and lemon-peel flavors and a polished finish. A beautiful, contemporary Brunello. Delicate and structured. Linear and long. Drinkable now, but better in two or three years.
Vinous 92: The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Pinino is perfumed and expressive, blending dusty rose with cedary spice, nuances of menthol and dried black cherries. It splashes across the palate with ripe wild berry fruits offset by a tinge of citrus and spice. The 2020 mixes savory and sweet through the finish, showing off hints of blood orange and a minty freshness that lingers on the close. This will require patience to integrate its oak sensations, but it's a balanced effort.
