Amelia Park Reserve Shiraz
Amelia Park Reserve Shiraz
A single vineyard in the Frankland River Region for this wine. The region is perfectly suited to producing many red and white varieties due to its continental climate combined with low vigour and moderate ripening conditions. Amelia Park has chosen this particular vineyard for its ability to produce typical Frankland River Shiraz, which as a result of being a cool climate, is intense in colour with ripe flavours yet is elegant in style and structure.
Winemaker notes
2021: The bouquet is rich and spicy with cherry, mocha and licorice. The palate is full of plum and berry flavours supported by soft velvety tannins. Aged in French oak for eighteen months, this wine offers excellent cellaring potential.
2021
James Halliday 96: From the exceptional 2018 vintage springs this aromatic, brooding, concentrated and complex shiraz from one of WA's great shiraz regions. Salted mulberry, raspberry, blackberry and licorice, layered with red licorice, bitter cocoa, star anise and that regional stamp of ferrous/red dirt/earth. Ripe acidity weaves in and out of the long finish. This will bring pleasure now, and well into the future.
Ray Jordan 96: The cooler ‘21 vintage has produced a raft of excellent wines from Frankland River. Gordon treats this with open fermentation after hand-picking to coax the best from this excellent source of fruit. Strikes a beautiful balance between the primary plummy, mulberry fruit characters and a more earthy rustic nuance that balances delightfully. The velvety tannins contribute to the smooth elegance of the palate. Has everything to support cellaring.
