Champagne Boizel Joyau Brut
Champagne Boizel Joyau Brut
The Joyau cuvée was created in 1961, under the aegis of René Boizel. Since then only 15 of the most exceptional vintages were ever produced, using the best grapes from Grand Crus and Premier Crus of Champagne. Joyau 2012 will be the 16th vintage of this rare collection. Harmonious blend of the very best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, exclusively from the greatest vintages, Joyau is the quintessence of the Boizel’s know-how. In the darkness of the cellars, each vintage is aged with patience in order to reveal its complexity and harmony. It takes no less than 10 years of ageing on lees to start to express its richness and subtle aromas, when the Pinot Noir and the Chardonnay echo to each other.
Winemaker notes
2008: To look at, this wine has sparkling gold hue with long-lasting little bubbles. The bouquet opens up with a wide range of elegant and generous aromas. It presents finely balanced hints of almond, frangipane, candied orange, and brioche. On the palate, the wine is complex, with a beautiful intensity, supported by a silky, refined texture. And it delivers the elegant pastry notes promised by the bouquet. The richness of the aromas is combined with delicacy, and the fullness with freshness, in a dazzling finish.
2012: Its deep golden colour is highlighted with fine, persistent and delicate bubbles. A rich, intense nose with scents of white blossom and citrus fruit leads into generous aromas of almonds and lightly toasted notes of pastry. The texture on the palate is silky and precise, with great tension. The long, persistent finish is fresh and lemony, with full-bodied aromas.
2008
James Suckling 94: Quince and dried pear with baking spices, such as cinnamon. Full-bodied and very tight with intense phenolics that are very, very fine and long. Lasts for minutes. Lightly chewy finish. Needs time to come together completely. 60% pinot noir and 40% chardonnay. Disgorged in 2023. 3g dosage. First wine from here, sold on the place in Bordeaux. Drink or hold.
Wine Enthusiast 92: Definitely mature from a harvest that ended on a sunny note, this Champagne still has great shape with acidity always present. The wine's richness is full, crisp and fresh at the same time. Drink this impressive wine now.
