The vines of this Monopoly, enjoying an ideal exposure, give birth to powerful, straight and balanced wines. The clay-limestone soil, not very stony but rich in iron and clay, rests on a deep earth, covering an area of 6 hectares. This Premier Cru, the most northeastern of Mercurey, offers a slightly rustic and raw style, both silky and warm.
A nose characterized by aromas of black and red fruits, enhanced by woody and smoky notes. On the palate, the wine reveals gourmet flavors, a beautiful amplitude and velvety tannins. The whole blends harmoniously to create a silky and warm wine, perfectly reflecting the nature of its terroir.
Jasper Morris 90: Just bottled. A robust and refreshing purple colour. A little burnt rubber reduction straight after bottling. Plenty of fruit here on the palate, raspberry seedless, plenty of energy, and a very good fruit acid balance.
Wine Spectator 92: Cherry, raspberry and plum fruit is woven into the silky texture, picking up floral, earth, iron and oak spice notes while building to the lingering aftertaste. Shows fine balance and length; this just needs time to integrate. Best from 2027 through 2040. 2,770 cases made, 554 cases imported.
