Honoring the winemaking legacy of the Hyde family, this release marks the proud reintroduction of the de la Guerra Chardonnay. In the early 1800s, family patriarch Don José de la Guerra y Noriega built Santa Barbara’s historic Casa de la Guerra while serving as mission Comandante. This iconic adobe estate quickly became the region's cultural heart—a vibrant hub for legendary fiestas and early California winemaking. Today, this Chardonnay carries forward those deep-seated roots and a timeless tradition of hospitality.
Wine Advocate 91: The 2022 Chardonnay De La Guerra is a new wine from Hyde de Villaine that comes from both estate and purchased fruit. It has bright, inviting scents of yellow apples, meringue, jasmine, toast and flint. The palate pairs concentrated, mineral-driven flavors with a silky texture and focused acidity, and it has a long, floral finish.
