After replanting a first part of the vineyard in 1989 and a second in 1993, this plot nestled on stony, marly soil reveals all its splendour. The soil is a perfect cradle for the vines to root deeply, drawing out the quintessence of this terroir. This earthy quality produces elegant, straightforward wines characterized by delicate spices and a harmonious dance of aromas. This terroir produces elegant, straight and pure wines, a vibrant testimony to the Morey-Saint-Denis climate.
Winemaker notes
2022: This wine reveals intense red fruits, accompanied by a subtle saline note and a hint of white pepper. The palate offers a superb and powerful flow of ripe fruit.
2018
Burghound 90-92: Moderate reduction dominates the nose today though there is very good verve to the nicely dense and textured medium weight flavors that exhibit focused power on the dusty and youthfully austere if slightly awkward finish due to mildly grippy tannins. I suspect that this will round out successfully once this has a few years of bottle age.
2019
Burghound 90-93♥: An exuberantly spicy nose is comprised by notes of poached plum, violet, lavender and a suggestion of warm earth. There is once again a lovely sense of underlying tension to the medium-bodied flavors that possess a caressing palate impression before firming up on the sneaky long and balanced finale. This could also use better depth, but it has the density and tannic structure to allow this to happen.
2020
Burghound 91-93♥: Bright, ripe and expressive aromas are comprised by notes of lavender, anise, crushed herb and pretty red currant scents. The succulent, fleshy and seductively textured flavors possess fine mid-palate density before terminating in a youthfully austere, clean and sneak long finish that isn't quite as mineral-driven.
2022
Burghound 91-93♥: Moderate reduction masks everything but subtle floral nuances. On the palate the impression of the middleweight flavors is refined and pure with that beguiling sense of underlying tension suffusing the linear, firm and sneaky long finish that is shaped by dense but fine-grained tannins. This is also quite lovely and understated in style.
