Burghound 90-92♥: Smoky aromas include those of pear and apple compote, mineral reduction and a whiff of just grated orange peel. The caressing but almost painfully intense medium weight flavors culminate in a markedly stony and saliva-inducing finish that displays excellent persistence and particularly so for a villages-level wine. This is also well-worth considering.
Wine Advocate 91-93: The 2023 Meursault Casse-Têtes derives from another new lieu-dit from Roulot, and insiders who know this climat won't be surprised that it's excellent. Offering up gently reductive aromas of pear, citrus oil, white flowers and struck flint, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy, with tangy acids, excellent concentration and chalky grip on the finish.
Vinous 92-94: The maiden 2023 Meursault Casse-Têtes comes from half a hectare of vines. It shows a little more reduction on the nose than the other cuvées, but there is real intensity and drive here. The palate is quite powerful with great depth, fine acidity and hints of nectarine and spice. There's plenty of horsepower on the finish. Give this two or three years once in bottle because this constitutes a very impressive debut that equals some of Roulot's Premier Crus.
