Inspired by the Champagne House’s savoir-faire in the harvest of a single year, this pure Chardonnay is grown on hillside plots in the Avize terroir in the heart of the “La Côte” estate. This champagne draws its strength from the intense chalkiness of these limestone soils which lend it its infinite freshness. With time, this champagne reveals the power and identity of these great terroirs.

Carried by the saline freshness of the limestone, this Blanc de Blancs is a slender, straight, luminous wine, with a caressing and powdery texture, where the minerality is finely linked to the substance. It is the triumph of Chardonnays!

Golden yellow hue with bright highlights. Magnificent, soft and even bubbles. Bouquet of white flowers (jasmine, orange blossom), citrus zest (lemon) and wheat complemented by an impression of iodine freshness, sea spray, sea breeze and powdered chalk. A few smoky notes and a reductive, calcareous quality, reminiscent of grilled almonds, emerge after aeration. The palate is creamy and caressing, revealing softness and finesse; coated velvet-like textures that quickly give way to fresh, marine, powdery and concentrated sensations. One has the impression of biting into a ripe, juicy fruit bursting with a lingering and mouth-watering zesty freshness. The finish is smooth, saline and stretches out like a shaft of sunshine, luminous and drying yet never brittle.

Wine Advocate 92: The 2017 Brut Blanc de Blancs, derived from four plots in the mid-slopes of Avize and vinified tw-thirds in stainless steel with the remainder in oak, is a considerable effort in the comparatively challenging year. “Unlike the red grapes, Chardonnay did not have issues with rot,” recalls Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon. Disgorged with seven grams per liter dosage, it soars from the glass with aromas of grapefruit zest, pear and toasted almonds. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, ample and textural, with a low-pressure mousse, vibrant acidity and a long, chalky finish. It’s derived from their estate, which has been farmed organically since 2017 (and certified as such in 2020). For its richness, 2017 reminds one of the 2010 vintage with less exoticism.

James Suckling 95: Croissants, sliced pears, apples, white flowers and almonds on the nose of this creamy and elegant blanc de blancs. Very silky on the palate, with almost imperceptible bubbles and delicate pastry notes. Soft and beautifully balanced. Chardonnay from the Grand Cru village of Avize. Drink now or hold.

Wine Enthusiast 96: Produced from selected parcels in Avize on the Côte des Blancs, this Champagne shows minerality and tension. While it has aged well, it still has vibrant freshness, from the lemon and brioche aroma and the tangy, citrus and spice flavors. The wine is textured and sure to age further. Drink from 2026.

Jeb Dunnuck 95: A bright medium yellow color, the 2019 Champagne Blanc de Blancs is focused on the nose and is an exciting wine because it’s beautiful and friendly yet still carries real structure. It has lemon sorbet and creamy cheese notes, with concentration and beauty but also vertical minerality. It’s a gorgeous Chardonnay with long-lasting energy and length, and the mousse is refreshing and springy, bringing fresh energy throughout.
