Produced with grapes from 6 individual parcels: En Jouise, La Justice, Les Murots, Carougeot, Les Crays, Vignes Belles and Les Seuvrees, with vines typically ranging around 80+ years old. Wine is characterised by depth and fruit lushness framed by a delicious minerality. A slight hint of iron from the red clay soil. De-stemmed, indienous yeast and aged in barrel (50% New French Oak).

2021

Burghound 88: Enough wood to mention is present on the ripe, earthy and fresh aromas of various dark berries. There is very good volume in the context of the vintage to the delicious middleweight flavors that possess a lovely vibrancy that carries over to the lingering, balanced and sneaky long finale.

2022

Burghound 89♥: A ripe, fresh and layered nose displays plenty of sauvage character on the mix of red and black fruit aromas. The delicious middleweight flavors possess good verve as well as solid depth and persistence on the bitter pit fruit-inflected finale.

Vinous 89-91: The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from 80-year-old vines. Plump red fruit leads the charge on the nose, segueing into an off-dry palate that offers white pepper-dashed strawberry and Morello fruit. Just when I'm getting excited, the finish is a tad drier than anticipated. Hopefully, it will be remedied during its remaining barrel maturation.

2023

Burghound 89♥: A brooding and more deeply pitched nose is distinctly earthier with its array of plum, wild dark currant and a floral top note. The medium weight flavors possess very good density in the context of the vintage with sold power that seems to build on the dusty, serious and youthfully austere but not really rustic finale. This is also very good for its level.

James Suckling 94: A really impressive village wine. Very peppery, with stacks of red beet character, this is so expressive. It seamlessly marries earthy depth, fine tannins and a wealth of red fruit on the bold, medium-bodied palate. The fennel aroma in the velvety finish is striking. Drink or hold.

Vinous 88-90: The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes has a lovely bouquet with red cherry, crushed strawberry and light sous-bois scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a slightly savory style and a soft landing on the finish. It will be an early-drinking Gevrey, though not one you regret ordering.
