Casanuova di Nittardi Chianti Classico is a pure Sangiovese from the single vineyard “Vigna Doghessa” in the municipality of Castellina in Chianti. The vineyard lies on a south-east facing hill at 450 meters above sea level and has a soil full of schist stones, which engenders the wine with a fine minerality and pleasant freshness.

Since 1981, Nittardi has paid annual homage to Michelangelo by having an internationally recognized artists such as Hundertwasser, Horst Janssen, Giuliano Ghelli, Yoko Ono, Mimmo Paladino, Günter Grass, Dario Fo, Karl Otto Götz, Alain Clément and Hsiao Chin create the label and wrapping paper.

Vibrant ruby red, intensely redolent of cherries, violet and hints of aromatic herbs and spices, with well-rounded tannins and a long-lasting finish on the palate. Excellently suited to all variations of pasta and meat dishes. Best served at approx. 16° C (61° F).

Wine Advocate 92: With its distinctive artist's label, the organic Nittardi 2022 Chianti Classico Casanuova di Nittardi Vigna Doghessa (with 30,000 bottles made) has sweet cherry and plum fruit over a mid-weight approach. This vintage is especially focused on primary intensity, and you feel some of the sweetness of a hot vintage. The tannins are soft, and the wine offers more texture than depth at the end of the day.

James Suckling 92: A well-rounded, balanced and flavorful red with aromas of red berries, cherries and pastry spices. Medium-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Spicy and vivid, with a crunchy, pulpy finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Falstaff 93: Bright, shiny ruby red. Fine precious wood on the nose, fragrant, ripe cherry fruit and ripe wild berry fruit, hearty and inviting, with liquorice. Beautifully balanced on the palate, with rich fruit and compact, powerful tannins, lovely length, a good sip of Chianti Classico!
