Robert Weil Kiedrich Klosterberg Riesling Trocken
Robert Weil Kiedrich Klosterberg Riesling Trocken
Winemaker notes
Dry, complex Riesling, with an extreme elegance and minerality shaped by the stony, crumbling soils of the renowned Klosterberg vineyard.
2021
Wine Advocate 92: The 2021 Kiedrich Klosterberg Riesling Trocken is based on macerated fruit (6-18 hours) that was fermented spontaneously in 100% large oak vats. The wine was never racked, except for the bottling in late June. Full-bodied, rich and powerful yet elegant and balanced on the palate, this is a relatively smooth and saline, pretty long and crystalline Riesling with fine tannin grip and a long, aromatic finish. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2022.
James Suckling 93: Seriously complex nose with a slew of stone fruit aromas with touches of candied and preserved lemon. A slew of cool minerality is packed into this wine’s sleek silhouette and the racy acidity drives this across the palate at a brisk clip. Wonderful herbal freshness at the long, tightly wound finish. Drink or hold.
