Nose of citrus fruits and caramelized peach. Powerful, mineral, light saltiness. Food-wine pairing with capon and sweetbreads, shellfish, scallops, lobster, or white meats. Ageing potential 8 to 10 years.

Vinous 92: The 2022 Les Romains is a focused Sancerre with ripe flesh on the core and mid-palate. Its straight, firm corridor of structure is oh-so flint on the finish, providing grip and power.

Wine Enthusiast 93: Tight and youthful, this is still a textured wine. It has intense citrus as well as richer white fruits, shot through with acidity. The wine will take its time, so drink from 2025. Organic and biodynamic.

Vinous 92: The 2023 Les Romains is from a rare vineyard in the Vacheron white portfolio that is flinty rather than chalky. It is fresh and firm, with a sense of purpose, line and length. This is a citrus-led style with the sensation of a stone hitting flint to create the spark for a fire.

Decanter 93: Powerful and savoury, delivering scents of violets, flint and smoke; rich and full with a massive mineral tension and visceral acidity. Direct and intense, hugely enjoyable, this is a chiselled, distinctive wine of power and class from vines that grow on flint, almost directly on the Sancerre geological fault.
